Walter Van der Meiren

Director for Customs Brokerage

UPS Europe

Walter currently serves as Director for Customs Brokerage at UPS Europe, dealing with regulatory, training, systems, and compliance. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Customs and Trade Facilitation Committee at AmCham EU and the European Express Association. Walter represents trade at the EU Commission DG Taxud’s Trade Contact Group and is a well-respected subject matter expert in different customs working groups from the European Commission. He is the winner of the ICC’s Customs Professional Award 2020 and received the WCO’s Certificate of Honor for rendering exceptional service to the international Customs Community.

Ken Wattret

Vice President, Economics, S&P Global Market Intelligence

Ken has worked as an economist in the financial markets since the early 1990s. Prior to joining IHS Markit (now part of S&P Global) in 2018, he was a Managing Director of Global Macro at TS Lombard, an independent research provider. Ken is a specialist in European economic and policy issues, his 'out of consensus' calls include predicting as early as 2012 that euro area deflation risk would force the European Central Bank to embark on a program of large-scale sovereign debt purchases despite strong opposition within many member states. He has taken a lead role in the presentation of key forecasts and themes to a broad spectrum of clients across Europe, the Americas and Asia, including corporations, banks and institutional and hedge fund-based portfolio managers. Ken received his honors degree in economics from the University of Sheffield, UK, and post-graduate qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
